Payroll Tax Facts Fast
There are times during the year when you know an important change in federal rules, regulations, or forms
is imminent. With APA you will stay ahead of the pack, this Chapter brings you up to date speaker presentations
and relevant topics monthly.

*
Do you know what the financial penalties are for failing to file payroll data on magnetic media if your company
meets the mandatory qualifications? What the potential penalties are for violations of the Wage and Hour Law
enforced by the U.S. Department of Labor? What can happen if your employees are not paid overtime correctly
or do not receive their paychecks on time?

*
Do you know what one late pension payment to a union cost?

*
Did you know that close to one-third of the companies in the United States are currently considering acquisition
of a new system to process the payroll? And that the research done, the conversion team formed and the choices
made could result in saving a company hundreds of dollars each year?

The effective payroll professional saves your company money and exposure to liability by processing
the payroll accurately, efficiently and timely. This requires keeping abreast of the technological and legislative trends
which have impact on the payroll function and ultimately, the company.

The synergy created through membership and your company's realization of your professional standing profit you
and your organization. You make a difference when you join the APA. We offer CEU credits for our CPA's and CPP's.

Charities

The Sacramento Chapter of the American Payroll Association has chosen to support Women's Empowerment as
our main charity.

Women's Empowerment is a charity that helps homeless women get back on their feet through an eight week program.
The eight week program offers training, support, and mentoring to enable them to obtain and maintain long term
employment.

In 2008, we participated in the eight week program offering training on the I-9 Form, W-2, and W-4 form as well as
explaining to the women what they can and cannot be asked in a job interview. Our portion of the program was such
a success we have been invited back in August to participate in the program again.

In addition to the program, Women's Empowerment has a need for donation of professional clothing and shoes which
will be given to the women to assist them in getting back into the workforce.
If you have any professional clothing
or shoes that you are willing to donate please bring them to the meetings. In addition we are posting a wish
list for items that are needed in the program.

For more information on Women's Empowerment go to
www.womens-empowerment.org

Women's Empowerment started as affiliated with Loaves & Fishes. Loaves & Fishes is an organization which provides
for the homeless in many ways such as feeding the homeless. In addition they provide hotel size soaps, lotions,
toothpaste, and toothbrushes to the homeless.
While you are traveling for fun or on business please pickup any
of the unused hotel size toilettes to donate to Loaves & Fishes. Also, a lot of dentist provide toothbrushes,
toothpaste, and dental floss and if you aren't planning on using these items please donate these items as
well.
Donations may be brought to the Sacramento APA Meetings.
