The Sacramento Valley Chapter of the APA celebrates National Payroll Week has begun to celebrate NPW all year long.  The chapter has partnered with the “Women’s Empowerment” Group (“WE”) from Loaves and Fishes, a non-profit organization for the homeless.
Working with homeless women, “WE” has learned about the causes, the challenges, and the issues that have brought, and in many cases kept a woman homeless. In an effort to break the cycle of homelessness, they have created a safe, supportive and educational place called Women's Empowerment (WE). Their eight-week classes offer homeless women the training, mentoring and support necessary to obtain and maintain employment. The Sacramento Valley Chapter of the APA has contributed to the curriculum by providing training on the basics of  “Your Payroll Check” and “Payroll Related Forms”.
The training has been very well received and provides members of the Sacramento Valley Chapter a venue in which they can “give back” to the community in which we live.  It is a great partnership with “WE” and we look forward to the future as we further grow our participation with Women’s Empowerment.
